Ana María Ruimonte and Alan Lewine, with Soprano Meets Bass are pleased to announce the release of our latest album, Sephardic Treasures on Ansonica Records.
These songs result from the collaboration with musicians from other countries we met while travelling to Madrid, Granada, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and New York.
Every artist collaborates adding his own personality to the songs, which tell us stories about the adventures of the Jewish communities and their interactions with the people of the Moorish and Christian communities of Medieval Spain.
We are all a mixture of diverse cultures and that enriches us – as people we each are part of and contain multitudes. When we sing, our soul expresses itself freely, emotions come and go and we can travel with our hearts and our minds to different spheres in time and place. To be human is to be curious and we are all interested in knowing the stories of our ancestors and finding out who we are and why we are here, and discovering what our great grandparents tried to tell us.
With this music we travel to the deserts of the Sahara, to the Andalucian olive groves, to the gardens with fountains in the Alhambra, to the Palace of the King of Aragon with Lady Jimena and El Cid, to Birdland the Manhattan jazz club, to the American countryside, or to the wars among Christians and Moors. Finally, love and peace triumph. Discover with Soprano Meets Bass and Sephardic Treasures where you can arrive to. Great music to travel around the Medieval world from the confinement of 2020.
